BOARD MEMBERS

Pablo Stansbery, Ph.D.
Pablo Stansbery received his doctorate in Human Development and Psychology in 1998 from Harvard University. He continued his post-doctoral training at the Child Development Unit within Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School). His research concentrates on the impact culture has on child rearing practices and how those practices influence developmental trajectories of children beginning at the earliest ages (0-6 years). Bilingual in both English and Spanish, Dr. Stansbery also directs a longitudinal study in Costa Rica where he is tracking the development of children from birth as they enter kindergarten. Dr. Stansbery has been a member of the Burt Children’s Center Board of Directors since 2005.

Nora Webb, M.A., M.F.T.
Nora Webb, returned to college later in life, receiving her B.A. in Psychology from Dominican University in 1992 and then a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Professional School of Psychology in San Francisco. Ms. Webb began consulting at La Casa de las Madres in 1999 and then became Program Director for three years before accepting the position of Clinical Supervisor in 2002. She maintains a private practice in San Rafael where she sees couples, individuals and families and specializes in treating substance use and abuse, mood disorders and trauma. Ms. Webb has been a member of Burt Children’s Center’s Board of Directors since 2005.

Kathy Black
Kathy Black is the Executive Director for La Casa de las Madres, California’s first and the nation’s second shelter dedicated to women and children escaping domestic violence. Ms. Black was instrumental in bringing national recognition to La Casa through the design, development and implementation of a teen program component successfully increasing La Casa’s service capacity to include battered and at-risk girls and young women. Ms. Black’s past work in the non-profit sector includes Threshold for Change, an adolescent dual-diagnosis residential treatment program, and ten years of board service with Sunny Hills Children’s Services, Inc. Ms. Black has been a member of Burt Children’s Center Board of Directors since 2005.

Jay Cahan
Jay Cahan is the sole proprietor of LC Investments, a property management and real estate investment sales company. Mr. Cahan has close to twenty years of experience in San Francisco real estate and has been instrumental in numerous minority partnerships in several South of Market businesses which serve the community. Since 2002, Mr. Cahan has served on the board of The Sage Project. Mr. Cahan has been a member of Burt Children’s Center’s Board of Directors since 2005.
