“Working Here Is Like….”

FRANK ANSWERS TO FRANK QUESTIONS

Staff members of Burt Children’s Center gain invaluable experience from working with both the staff and children. Many of the questions we receive from prospective staff concern the role they would be playing at the center and in the children’s lives.

As a staff member you will be working in a 1:3 (staff to child) ratio with like-minded individuals. Here are some comments from staff members reflecting upon their experiences and their own professional and personal growth:

“…the bonds I have formed here will last me a lifetime…”

“Learning to rely on the people around me to help out has taught me the importance of team work…”

Our hope at the center is to find individuals that want to better themselves and learn.

“My greatest fear is that an individual works at the center and doesn’t understand their importance and accomplishments…”

We realize that too often an entry level position has a connotation of “starting at the bottom” and of being of little significance. We challenge that notion by putting staff in a position to gain valuable experience.

“While I was originally concerned about the importance of the role I would be playing, I quickly realized that there is a great opportunity to be a major factor in these children’s lives…as the center is smaller than most it creates an intimate environment for both staff and children to build incredible relationships…”

As for discoveries people have made about themselves:

“I have found many sides to myself that I didn’t think existed. From discovering new levels of understanding to what the true meaning of patience is…”

The aim of Burt Children’s Center is to help individuals to reach their potential and find success.
